New T-shirt Designs!
I heard you liked sexy things to show off on your chest, so I designed some more shirts.
I can only afford to do one, so I’m leaving the choice in your hands. If you like both you can vote for both, I’m nice like that.
These T-shirts are also in design phase, so any comments on what you think would improve them would be appreciated!
Could you add plain ol’ vanilla Transgender to the Person shirt? And Androgynous?
Defs:
Androgynous :
1 : having the characteristics or nature of both male and female
2 a : neither specifically feminine nor masculine
Defs courtesy of Merriam-Webster Online – http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/androgynous?show=0&t=1369664329
The shirt does have
>Third Gender
>Intersex
>Questioning
>Agender
and
>Other
Those are great, but none of those is the same thing as Transgender. Some of them could fall under the Transgender umbrella though. Based on that, I’d personally tend more towards the more inclusive term (which to me is Transgender) if all can’t be included.
I’d personally love to see Genderqueer added to the shirt. It’s an identity that more and more people seem to hold (in the USA at least) these days. Adding Transgender would make me happy too though. I don’t personally like “Third Gender” myself as an alternative to those, since it feels like it’s stating that there are only 3 options or that my gender would be grouped with all other non-binary genders, but I do know some people identify that way.
Whoops, in my excitement I left genderqueer off there. It was on my list of things to add but I must have crossed it off the list by accident and never typed it in.
I’m slightly running out of room on the shirt, would genderqueer be a good alternative to third gender?
Trans I’m not sure about- would trans people want to badge themselves? Or feel bad about not badging that part if they want to be stealth?
I personally think “genderqueer” is a broader, more inclusive term that more people can identify with than “third gender” as, in my opinion, there is not just three genders but a multitude of combinations which i think “genderqueer” helps to explain =)
I would tend to agree with this, though I can only speak from my personal perspective and how things seem in the USA. I imagine it may be different in other countries/areas (and for other people). But I definitely support putting Genderqueer on the shirt.
I can’t afford a tee right now but other sugestions to add to thr second one could be butch, femme, tomboy or boi.
I love the second one! I don’t know if it’s just me, but I’d love it even more without the “…” after “I am a” because for me it opens a further meaning: I am a person whatever little box I choose to tick! And that’s not always a given where I live…
Correct me if I’m wrong but I wouldn’t know that it has a specific meaning like for example Furry or Asexual…I’m not a big wearer of shirts with messages and I don’t like to label myself but I think I’d get a Person-Shirt
*referring to Creature
The person shirt is just like some that are already out, but with more categories from what I can tell? That shirt would appeal to more people (as there are more categories than just ace. The Ace shirt is more unique though!
That second one could be great to have in the unlikely event that I go to some sort of large queer get-together, but I just can’t see myself wearing it on a regular basis. And in all honesty, if I were to decide that I want an ace t-shirt, there are other places where I’d look first.
Please have whatever shirt you do also in black!
I don’t wear any colors, and would love to have these shirts.
Please! Cheers :)
I could do a special order if you like? I get bored selling black shirts so I wanted a bit more colour but if you wanted a specific one made in your size I’d be happy to arrange it.
I really like the Ace one but if you are going to do the I am… a person one can I suggest something other than that “third gender” to represent non-binary gendered people – I’ve not seen it used much and it seems to imply very strongly that NBG who are not bigendered or agender belong to one distinct gender like ‘male’ or ‘female’ – My picks to represent NBG people in decreasing order of importance would be: non-binary gendered, agender, genderfluid, bigender. The present set of choices would cause me to not buy it where other options wouldn’t.
I also agree with a previous commenter that trans should be there – probably either as transgender or just trans. I might also consider pansexual.
Dude! Agender’s in there, second to last row. Right next to it is the options Intersex, Questioning, and Other!
p.s. those are NOT angry exclamation marks.
Just as a note, Intersex is not the same thing as transgender or having a non-binary gender. An intersex identity typically refers to a physical/biological sex identity specifically. Transgender, non-binary gender, and other such terms (including agender) refer to a gender identity (which goes beyond the physical). Also, most often Questioning is used in regards to sexual orientation (not gender identity), so that is most likely how it would be read by others.
I fully support adding Non-Binary Gender or Genderfluid. Another option would be Genderqueer. And I support adding Transgender or Trans* as well.
Whoops, in my excitement I left genderqueer off there. It was on my list of things to add but I must have crossed it off the list by accident and never typed it in.
I’m slightly running out of room on the shirt, would genderqueer be a good alternative to third gender? I like Non-binary as well. I’ve already got queer on the shirt though so I like genderfluid for word variety.
Trans I’m not sure about- would trans people want to badge themselves? Or feel bad about not badging that part if they want to be stealth?
Personally, I think Genderfluid or Genderqueer would work as an alternative to third gender. I don’t know how often Third Gender is used in other countries, but in the USA I don’t think it’s very commonly used and sometimes is seen as having negative connotations. I realize that may be different in the UK though. Non-Binary would be a great alternative as well. In fact, that’s probably the most inclusive term. Though, being such an inclusive term might not work out well if you also include the very inclusive term Transgender/Trans*
As for your other question, I’m trans* and I’d definitely want to badge myself, knowing that while I’d totally buy that shirt right away I would probably only ever wear it to something like Pride (where I would feel safe doing so). I can understand the worry that trans* people who are stealth (but still identify as trans*) would feel bad about not badging that part of themselves though. I hadn’t even thought of that. This is obviously why you are the writer/artist here. :)
I think in I Am A… Person t-shirt should have the “types” in alphabetical order. This way no one can say this is more important than that. You know, try to be as neutral as possible…
I tried to make it alphabetical order but they’re all different sizes so they don’t fit on the shirt very well that way. Maybe if I start as alphabetical as possible then do the move around? Though that might just look like I’ve failed at the alphabet….
I’m just vaguely amused that the shirt has ‘male’, ‘gay’ AND ‘lesbian’ badged on. And pansexual so I guess that’s why, but… Then wouldn’t it be gay and straight? XD
Ha, glad someone spotted that :P
You know, I voted for the “person” one because buttons are awesome and it just seems like it’s something for everybody, but I’m almost regretting that now. The ace shirt is so original. Shirts for gay rights/pride are all over the place now (not so much for trans* and etc though), but ace is pretty ignored, even in the lgbtq community. That really makes the shirt more unique. It’s neat.
That said, I assume it’d sell less, considering the “person” Tshirt is so flexible and works for just about everyone. Meh, oh well.
A question, though – I assume any shirts you make would probably be unisex style only due to financial constraints, huh?
I completely agree with N. I know that the “I am a… person” shirt will appeal to more people, but I would love to see people wearing the ace shirt. I feel like the presence of ace people often gets ignored, even in queer spaces, and I’m all for more visible ace allies out there.
Size I do are Girly fit small and medium, then the girlie fit large is the equivalent of a unisex small so I get those instead. I get gildan soft style shirts which have a bit more shape to them and I’ve found many girlie people prefer the unisex fit- the main difference is that the torso and the sleeves are a bit longer.
I’ll be open to custom orders if you’d like to place one though!
Unisex shirts actually choke a lot of people depending on their shape, which is why it’s a problem. It’s good that you try to get a large range of sizes, though. Thanks for answering :D
Would definitely like to see genderqueer on there instead of third gender. Genderqueer is a little broader I think. Also am a liiiittle uncomfortable to be honest with perverted and furry being on the same shirt as gender/sexual orientations. Not because I think either of those things are wrong (and furries catch too much shit), but it feels misplaced in this context.
Perverted is there because while being a pervert is not a form of sexuality, being perverted is a very important part of my own sexuality.
I’ve always seen it as slang for hypersexual, someone who’s the opposite of an asexual.
Furry I don’t know- clearly it’s time for another poll!
Hum, guess that makes a certain amount of sense. It does have some really negative connotations (dunno if that’s a constant or if it’s different across the pond or what) to some folks though. (ie; child molesters are perverted, queers aren’t.) That said me and my partner jokingly and lovingly call each other perverts all the time (… and we do not do horrible things to kids. Or anyone, really.)
Can o’ worms, so this is more educational than contradictory.
Some people believe hold that Asexuality is the total lack of a sexdrive (opposite hypersexual). Others argue that as a sexuality it means, in a less classic definition but more conforming, that it is that lack of attraction to anyone independent of libido, like a herterosexual in a world with only their gender.
As an Asexual*, Hypersexual I (and many Aces I have discussed this with but not all) tend to side with the latter definition because it allows easier understanding understanding of the Queer umbrella.
*Demisexual
OH oh oh, would also consider replacing “male” and “female” with “man” and “woman.” The first two have the issue of being scientific/biology based in layman terms, where man and woman are more identity based…..
… ok maybe identities are just super hard to all fit on one t-shirt.
Lilian, I was planning on putting buttons on both Dom and Sub, myself.
‘I am a man person’ doesn’t work as a sentence though, which is why I’ve gone with male/female etc.
Oh, duh. That makes sense. Lol nevermind me. :)
Hey Tab! Just tossing my input in, but I sure wouldn’t mind an option for simply “Switchy”–I can understand how it wouldn’t fit with both Subby and Dommy taking space on there, though.
Also, as for the third gender/agender/etc aspect of the shirt, I’d like to suggest “Non-binary” as per my own lover’s ID preference.
Thanks for all you do, and take care!

The idea of this shirt is that labels don’t cancel each other out- I’d thought about switches and figured that you can just badge both!
Looks like non-binary and genderqueer have made the final cut! I might replace creature as no one has found it funny XP
I agree with K above, you can probably get rid of/replace the options like ‘furry’ and ‘perverted’ because they’re very out of place along with the other options… and then you would have more room to include options like trans* and non-binary as well!
I know I’m quite late with this, as the “I am a… Person” shirt has already won, but I hope that if you can afford to at some point you’ll consider bringing back the ace shirt design. I’m not in a place where I can really buy shirts online right now, or would feel comfortable wearing them in my current environment, but I’ve been looking around for some ace pride shirts I’d like to buy when I have the chance to…. Suffice to say that there aren’t many ^^; Many of those that are are simply the ace flag squarely on a shirt, which is not really something I’d want to wear, personally. I really like your design, though, and I’d definitely buy it in the future if it were available!
