Sir, Butler and Boy ~ Stocks and Bonds ~ Page 2
Couple of things on this page:
1~ OH MY GAWD GLASSES
2~ Trying out the ‘LATER’ boxes to make time spans more obvious. If these work well I’ll be rolling these out to the earlier pages for print editions.
3~ But what will he make??? Stay tuned to find out…
As a glasses wearer (who loves their glasses), I’m quite tickled to see Butler wears them to read.
Just to ask again – how old are all of the characters, exactly? I know the boy is about 21 or so…? Loving the comic so far.
It’s a bit wibbly in my head because victorians didn’t live as long as we do, but the butler is the eldest and at least 15 years older than James
I’d note that the stats you see on Victorian mortality (actually most historical mortality stats) are a bit misleading. They all factor in *infant* mortality, which was tragically high, and causes the mean average to plummet.
If you look at the life expectancies of people who survived their first five years, most could expect to survive ’til at least age 70, albeit in worse health than we would expect today. Death at 27(!) for a working class adult was not the norm, despite what the statistics might imply.
Google something like “victorian life expectancy discarding child mortality” and you should find some sources.
(Not that it’s really relevant to the comic at all, I just think it’s interesting; I only learned this myself a couple of years ago. :-)
My megane fetish is tingling.
Had to Google that because megane is a brand of car as well as the Japanese word for glasses…
Butler looks quite… Sinister in that pose, combined with that dialogue.
“And you are SURE it will be undetectable?”
1) “Oh yes, the virus won’t manifest symptoms for at least fourty-eight hours after the transmission phase.”
2) “Quite certain. Their dogs will never detect the new compounds.”
3) “Entirely. The signal is disguised as telemetry data; they’ll never realise we cracked their encryption.”
LOL!
Good thing John only uses his super-sir powers for good instead of evil…
Oh my, glasses. Very nice, Jefferson. Very nice indeed.
Sassy sir, I like it.
This comic needs more of Jefferson in those glasses…
I definitely like the later box, very helpful.
I am looking forward to this chapter.
Yes, it’s a good Later box. Which reminds me of how much better it is than facial hair, which reminds me we’re still waiting for PUFF in a baby carriage! :D
