Oh my god, that smirk is the sexiest thing you have ever drawn, Tab. I include actual scenes of sex in that decision. DAMN! That SMIRK!
Hoooooo boy. Somehow this actually bothers me even more! Maybe it’s too many years in a V and not enough in a triad, but good lord is that conversation disconcerting. Don’t be territorial over your sub (I mean, unless he’s cool with it, but it doesn’t seem like they worked this out)!

I’m really not digging James domming and don’t find him being manipulative, mean, and pushy hot. It just makes my stomach turn; what would I do if I invited someone into my relationship and they acted like this?

Though Tab is excellent at bringing us into the squirmy feels, and I trust him to get us out beautifully! I foresee a lesson coming to James…though not in a vengeful way, hopefully!
I don’t think the middle of a scene is a good time for a serious conversation like this. Business type meetings shouldn’t occur during play time and vice versa… unless I guess if you’re Jim and Pam!
I think that’s exactly my problem with James right now. The fact that they’re having this serious conversation, or that James doesn’t know that this IS a serious conversation and that he IS pushing limits, regardless of it being John’s or Jeff’s, shows that he’s definitely not ready for this UNTIL they have this conversation beforehand.
Agree, it’s a show of James’ lack of experience or tact to decide or recognize if being abrupt and pushing a sub’s límits without discussing before is a good idea or not. He can risk putting Jefferson out of work for a while and/or worse, he could jeapordize his relationships with his partners.
I’d adore a comic about discussion on a regular basis before new scenes and things and how it can be represented in a healthy and safe (and kinda sexy!) way with consent and negotiation for all involved parties. It’s part manners and foreplay for lovely, thoughtful sex! Shows people care about the others and themselves too!
True, but this is not to say I’m not enjoying Tab’s work. In fact, I think Tab has done a lot to show those healthy scenes and set ups in this and in other comics.
For this case, I think this is very intentional for James to be a bit out of line, and I appreciate the fact that Tab is deciding to depict a scene that’s not completely perfect at the beginning; not because of a faulty prop (like the handcuff incident) but because of human error. It’s frustrating and makes me want to slap James upside the head but that’s because this is such a likely thing that can happen in a rl scene with someone inexperienced, not because Tab is deciding to bypass consent for a sexy scene like how so many other smutty comics do.
This is a Learning Lesson, which is something I find even MORE rare in these sorts of comics, and I love it all the same. My issue lays within the character being a jerkbag, as if they were a real person, rather than the author who decided to depict the character as being a jerkbag in the first place.
