I think this is the sister-in-law, not the wife. (The dress and jewelry are a little too fancy to be just a guest’s outfit, I think.) But I guess that doesn’t preclude her having inklings.
I’d venture it’s because it’s her wedding say and he’s saying provoking things to her. Honestly, if a drunk person at my wedding said they would look better in my dress than I did, I’d assume he/she/they were trying to antagonize me for some reason over it being an indication of their lifestyle.
wow thats actually kind of rude of Chris imo. way to upstage someone else’s celebration that they spent thousands of dollars and countless hours into planning.
Aww c’mon, this probably took place near the end of the wedding celebrations, where everyone is kinda drunk and mingling anyway. I really doubt he did this while she was walking down the aisle! It’s possible that nobody other than wife, sister and possible a nearby guest heard about it.
Also, (I’d say not to be pedantic, but that’s just not true :p ) I would say that it’s more than likely that very few, if any, dollars were spent on that wedding, as it was probably in England. Unless they decided to fly the whole thing to Vegas. And yeah it is kinda rude, but well this does forma cautionary take about the stuff you do when you are off your face drunk, so their isn’t that much rational thinking flying about in Chris’s head at that point.
But , yeah, I love the (ex?) sister-in-law’s expression, all the ‘drunken idiot saying stupid stuff to me’ feels XD
Why does it being in England mean very little was spent on it? Look at that dress, that’s clearly pretty expensive. It’s not normal to get a super expensive dress and have everything else be very cheap.
Of course it’s rude! If it wasn’t he wouldn’t be the “King of drunk fuck ups”! His marriage might have even survived the coming out if he hadn’t done so in such an inconsiderate and mortifying way.
I do >:) I wouldn’t if someone did this in real life, but this is one of the situations where the “It’s just fiction!” argument does actually apply* – I can laugh at Chris being awful to his sister-in-law because the sister-in-law is just lines. (ANGRY lines).
*Doesn’t apply when the fictional representation hurts people IRL, i.e. racist/sexist/transphobic/etc representations of characters. But non-bigoted arseholishness is okay IMO
Well I think people take into account that he’s drunk and think “oh well that’s not really him being rude, purposefully” also this is a cringe-y, embarrassing flashback and those always have a degree of sympathetic reaction. If it were portrayed as happening in the present of the strip, it would come off way worse. But this is the past and he can’t go back and change it but he can look back and regret it.
It depends n the situation. Maybe it was deserved. If she was like the wife of a friend who turned into a bridezilla when they got married and continued the act at mine, I think a guy doing a drunk coming out would not only be sympathetic, but heroic.
I don’t know if this was intentional or not, but the bride looks kinda like one of the “evil” women in a Disney movie. I can’t place which one…perhaps Cinderella?
Also, Chris would totally look better in that dress. Just saying.
*sigh* You have obviously not converted fully to the glory of Tabbism (or whatever we decided it was supposed to be named; I can’t remember)! Join us when Tab livestreams the comics he’s drawing; there’s music on, and sometimes he sings along! The livestream is 9am GMT Mondays and Thursdays (unless Tab has stated something else), and there’s a link up to the right on the site. (If you live in America; sleep is for losers, Tab livestreaming is for winners. Huddle with us. If you live in Europe/Africa; pray that you’re not busy Monday and Thursday morning. If you live elsewhere; that’s afternoon for you, isn’t it? You should be good to go!)
Joke aside; perhaps it’ll end up on youtube? Tab will surely provide a link if that is the case.
Awww yes!
Her expression seems more pissed than shocked… I wonder if she might’ve had inklings?

I just assumed this was well into his rant and the shock had passed
Love it

Also this picture is just awesome generally XD

not very little money- very little dollars.
In other words, you used the USA form of money: Dollars. England doesn’t use that, so, they wouldn’t spend dollars to plan a wedding.
Aaaaaaah. Well, I’m slow.
Of course it’s rude! If it wasn’t he wouldn’t be the “King of drunk fuck ups”! His marriage might have even survived the coming out if he hadn’t done so in such an inconsiderate and mortifying way.
…isn’t that kind of the point, him being the “king of drunken fuck-ups” and all?
True! But I think some commenters are kind of like on his side? Like who says “awww ilu” at someone who’s being rude as hell?

King of drunk fuck-ups indeed!
Ahahaha. Love this.
Haha, daaaaang – king of drunk fuck-ups indeed. On a side-note, where might one sample Tab’s opera skills?
