Does anyone know how much the story is still paralleling shades of grey. I enjoyed getting a glimpse of that work through some of Tabs comments but I don’t want to actually read it, as this is much better.
Well, they had a first date at this point which then led to Ana’s deflowering, but this is so, so much better. The sequence of events are more or less the same but the nature of them are about as different as possible.
Put it this way, after Ana went to Christian’s house and he shows her his BDSM stuff and tells her if she lets him tie her up and spank her and do all of his BDSM things, he’ll reward her with sex. And then she goes “But I’ve never had sex” in which his flips out because apparently the idea of an attractive 22 year old woman being a virgin is completely abhorrent and must be corrected IMMEDIATELY. So he practically drags her to the bedroom where they have multiple orgasms and Ana is like “waaaahhh omg where has this been all my life!?!” Because apparently women’s sexuality is not switched on until a man screws her. Yeah dont read those. Tab’s cartoon about book 1 felt like a cartoon about my reaction to the book. It is fascinating somehow in a “i cant believe you don’t effing ASK, why do you DO that?!? ” but I felt like crap, after reading it. Bad baaad book.
RoL, I love your ways of putting things, especially about sexuality being switched on! Our society already has a too big problem with believing that you have to start having sex at a under 20 age and that there is something wrong with you if you don’t.

You don’t always need a really good reason not to want something, a lot of people are uncomfortable showing off different parts of their bodies, I hope Anwar learns a bit how things work differently for everyone beside how it did with his ex…
I, for one, have a thing about my legs. While fine with the rest of my body I’m really self-conscious about how hairy my legs are.

Is Anwar familiar with trans folks’ gender-related body issues from having dated JD? They looked comfortable naked in the flashbacks, but that was pre-coming out, binding, etc.
Love that Anwar’s so comfortable with his body despite all his worries about his asexuality and Chris, normally the confident one, is reluctant to strip off. But dangit, I want to see Chris without a shirt.
I think Chris’s reluctance is less gender-related than it is “I don’t want to show you my flab.” #relate

I feel like Anwar is being a tad insensitive. If someone says ‘I’m not comfortable with X’, the correct response is not ‘Oh it’ll be fine!’. Bad Anwar.

I feel like Anwar means “it’s fine if you don’t want to take it off, you don’t have to” — not “don’t worry, do it anyway.”
For me, it reads as “I’m sure your chest is fine, you don’t need to worry about showing it off to me”.
For being someone who is so dissatisfied with their body, I guess I’m pretty comfortable being naked with someone I’m having sex with. Although, that is the only instance where I’m comfortable being naked, now that I think of it. Hmmm…
I’m the same way. I hate the thought of being anywhere near nude with anyone I’m not intimate with, but every time my boyfriend and I are alone he says I’m wearing to many clothes, and I don’t really have a problem with it. lol.
Oh… oh geez… This has gone from bad to worse. This is so unromantic it’s… is this what sex is like in a normal relationship? What is normal, and what is normal sex? I guess this isn’t really a “normal” relationship though, is it? Again, what is normal?

So most people here probably wouldn’t give two figs what ‘normal’ is. I know I don’t.
As for relationship, I contend even if there IS a normal there shouldn’t be. Everyone is different (even if only slightly) so every relationship SHOULD be different (even if only slightly)
One day I’m going to make a reactor powered by awkward, put these two in and solve the world energy crisis.
