I did not expect to become a bit attached to that Chris guy ! Now I just like seeing him and knowing stuff about him, it’s nice.

Hm. This may be the beginning of JD becoming the ‘former’ best friend. JD knows Anwar is asexual, and they saw how Anwar and Chris hit it off, so why couldn’t they wait until AFTER the rather sexually-themed shoot to have him come to the studio?
I don’t really get your logic here. Are you implying that JD is trying to “play cupid”? Because I’m pretty sure that JD has enough knowledge to avoid attempting to “cure” Anwar’s asexuality.
I felt that the implication was “Here; I’ll give you an excuse to drop by and see your acquaintance again.”
I don’t think they’re necessarily trying to “play cupid” or anything like that. It doesn’t even have to be anything intentional; it could be simple thoughtlessness like ‘hey, they met at the fetish club and Chris was in a sexy nurse costume then, so it’ll be cool if Anwar pops in while we’re still doing the shoot.’
Buuuut I’ve backread through the comic again, and though I could have sworn there was some line referring to JD as an ex/former best friend and thought something would be cropping up later to show how they go from bffs to used-to-be bffs, I can’t find it now, so I’m starting to think I’m either getting my comics mixed up or I flat-out dreamed it.
You’re not imagining it, I remember it too. There definitely used to be one, but Tab must have gone back and edited it out.
It’s the description of the comic on the cover page – “When openly asexual Anwar Sardar gets dragged to a kink night by his (soon to be ex) best mate, JD; he is surprised to make friends with Chris Slate, a middle aged transvestite with a penchant for Dr Who. Convinced they’ll never meet again Anwar puts him out of his mind, but the awkwardly charming man keeps turning up in his life.”
That almost leads me to believe that Chris becomes the new BFF; not that JD did something to cause a rift between the two.
Yeah. I think JD is still a good friend, just maybe not BFF?
I dunno. I kind of feel like mentioning that JD is the “(soon to be ex) best mate” indicates that something is going to happen between the two. Anwar meeting a new person and having a relationship develop that’s closer than his and JD’s doesn’t seem like something that would make it worth specifically mentioning JD’s impending loss of best mate status.

Well, if the book is to be followed, *someone* should sexually assault Anwar and I see no better candidate for it than JD.
(No idea if I’m actually spoiling this, since I obviously don’t really know what the plot of the comic is going to be, and also I think this comic has to be read after the book anyway, seeing as it’s at least somewhat intended as a satire.)
