Hazel is adorable.
Hah Hazel surprising us with some super sass! But ooh this is heating up…
I find this to be one of the most accurate portrayals of kids when it comes to real world “grown up” stuff adults assume they won’t get. The younger they are, the more easily they not only get it but accept it. People ask me all the time how I handle being poly and trans with my kids and seriously, they were told when young, before the social norms were grilled into their heads. They get it and accept it and continue on, happy and well adjusted.
I have to agree. Kids will usually get it and understand better than adults. I know parents think they are too young heck people up here are free king out about relationships and puberty and that kinda stuff starting to be taught in grade 1. (Ontario canada) yet starting younger will make it easier in the long run.

Kudos to ‘War for not taking the bait. Though that’s *still* not quite the best way that could have been handled, especially since Pearl is apparently just a touch on the warpath.
There is still a lot of directions this could go in. Pearl could have already decided that the whole divorce thing is her papa’s fault (she certainly seems to act that way outwardly) and she’s looking for more reasons to dislike him, and possibly lash out by hurting him or those around (the table conversation)… or she could be looking for someone/something to blame that is not her dad, in which case Anwar is in for a treat…
And Hazel is now my favorite character
The sass gene is strong in the Chris bloodline.
