JD needs to rethink their statements on honey badgers. Honey badgers are terrifying.
How far would the commute be for them to visit? I don’t remember what town this was set in.
I believe it would be anywhere between 2-4 hours by train? Not sure about car/taxi. 8(
(Someone please correct me if I’m wrong, I’m not very geographically inclined x__x)
I think about three-ish hours sounds about right, but we’ve seen no evidence that JD has a car (or even a license) and I doubt Anwar will get one while living in London. Admittedly I’ve only ever visited briefly but there’s a lot of public transportation and it doesn’t feel overly car-friendly. A taxi would be extremely cost prohibitive.
So it would have to be train, but travelling to London on the train from anywhere is expensive; so it would be financially best to make a decent trip of it. I don’t recall hearing what JD does though, or their educational status- it’s possible having a place to turn to in London might be a potential opportunity for them.
Poor Anwar. Leaving behind everyone he knows, including his partner, to go to a place as overwhelming as London.
Thanks for the extra info! I’ve never traveled to London, so I wasn’t too sure aside from the general distance issues.
I hope it’s worth it, I mean this is the job he’s been dying to have after all his struggles and work in school. The optimistic side of me is hoping he’ll make new friends and have better coworkers, though realistically moving is hard and the adjustment period is hell.
Assuming JD and Chris do live in Birmingham, it would take probably 3 hours by train, a little more door-to-door depending on where they both live. Except, maybe this is just me being dense, but until the visit from Chris’s kids I had the distinct impression that Shades of A took place in Southampton? Did I just make that up, or was there a flashback set somewhere else, or did they all up and move?
…and now I’m getting flashbacks to Ursula Vernon’s honey badgers.

I know the comic’s ending but damn, I love these characters so much that I’m hoping we get to see them again sometime in the future.
