To all the people getting bent out of shape about Charlie finding “glee” in Alex getting bullied. Let’s remember this is a 16 y.o. kid, so not the MOST mature person on the planet, she’s jealous AND hurt because here’s this (as SHE sees it) little coward that’s in the closet who has STOLEN the ONLY guy that she has EVER loved AND that has EVER seen HER AS A GIRL.
Meanwhile, not ONLY has Tom rejected Charlie who LITERALLY went through HELL with him; he’s now IGNORING HER FOR CLOSET BOY (as SHE sees it).
So yes why certainly not an excuse; when you look at in a childish mindset that it was written from it is COMPLETELY understandable.
none of the previous comments seemed “bent out of shape”, just rightfully stating that its pretty fucked up that she felt like that. I love charlie, but I agree that this was so wrong of her. Even your supposed reasoning for her is messed up, because it kind of implied tom belongs to her/she deserves him even though he’s gay. I don’t think it’s Completely understandable, i think the way to go about this is that teens can be cruel sometimes and that’s that. Because reading her like that makes her seem more cruel than she actually is.
