     Except it was the utter denial of said feelings that led to him dating Amber in the first place. If she had been too direct, he could have run away into denial more easily. So instead, she showed him. It was a smart move. Also, Jamie and others like him have likely made that question into a threat for Mark, wherein the answers are ‘no’ or harassment. Of course he’d say no. And then he’d be wary of Amber.

     If Amber weren’t just 15 she’d probably be able to talk about orientation openly. As a kid, she gives into her scheming tendencies a bit first. But she does express her feelings well in the end.
