I’m not sure how far into understanding JD is on their personal placement on the gender spectrum at this point in their history, so I apologize if something I say here comes off rude, wrong, or strange.
I wonder if that little light bulb going off is gonna sound like “…sex with me because I have girl parts.” In my mind that may take some of the insulting sting out of it for JD because, hey, built in plumbing (and not appearing to desire a change in that, but I may be wrong), but on the other hand I’m not sure, and at the same time that’s STILL not what’s actually going on for Anwar and could cause even more not fun drama and problems.
Poor Anwar. Poor JD, too, because this isn’t a fun position for them to be in, either.
You know what I like most about Tab’s comics? The fact that all the comments are filled with intelligent, well-spoken, compassionate and curious people. Seriously, I’ve learned so much about gender and sexual identity from the comments alone.
That said, poor Anwar, and poor JD! I feel sorry for them because they’re trying to be open to let Anwar explore and have a turn at “taking the lead”, which can be a good thing (in my experience)… But they don’t realise Anwar’s idea of intimacy is very different from their own.
As Melody Pond once said, “Penny in the air… … … Penny drops!”

Why talk about things when you can leap to conclusions and increase the drama exponentially? :) Seriously, one of the things I love (and hate, because oh the cringe!) is that the people are like real people, and real people never choose the road of honesty and understanding when there’s an option for self-blame and awkwardness. :-p
I know, right?
It would be a rather boring comic if they did that, heh.
Since it’s Tab and I have the utmost faith, I’m sure the next panels of this flashback will be filled with awkward and messy feelings and such n such. ;-)

Lightbulb moment! But which lightbulb? Since Anwar’s only been with JD (as far as we know) I can see JD reaching the conclusion that Anwar doesn’t want to have sex with them. At the same time, though, I think JD is quite a bit smarter than that and would, to quote Kakashi from Naruto, “look underneath the underneath.”
I know nothing of Naruto, but I ADORE that line. “Look underneath the underneath” ^.^ That makes me want to go “Yay!” and clap like a total dork for some reason…
