And with a simple panel Shades of A passes the Bechdel test. Pretty difficult with a romance story with two male leads set in first person narrative, but hey if I can do it the rest of the world can suck it up and start thinking about how women are represented in media.

I had never heard of the Bechdel test! Though one could argue that if the Vet were male you didn’t pass the test. Also, I would wonder by referring to someone, like “the Vet”, simply by the terms of their occupation would most people assume they are male? Also, I assume the gender of the cat does not pass or fail the test. :P

I’m pretty sure they are actually talking about a dog. It is much more common for dogs to eat random things like stones than for a cat to do so.
Also, to really break things down technically, ;) the requirement of the Bechdel test is talking about something “besides a man,” which means a human male, so the gender of the animal shouldn’t matter. In addition, since the animal is the topic of the conversation, not what the vet did, the vets gender also doesn’t matter. Further, since vet is used as a slang world for both veterinarian and a veterinary hospital, vet in this sentence could indicate a location rather than a person.

Actually Honey, the two vets I know are both women, so MY assumption went straight to female. :D and LOL @the cat. :D

Yep, these days the vast majority of vets are female. I started a veterinary course and there were just over 200 of us in my year- only 24 were cos males (approximately a quarter of whom were gay, not that it’s relevant). In the old days it was a heavily male dominated profession and the majority of vets approaching retirement are male. As people have said though, the vet’s gender is irrelevant.
I think the watermarks could stand to be less intrusive. Maybe lower opacity? Otherwise there’s the spaces between the panels. I think the way you noted the title in Khaos worked well*, though you could probably stick your name up with it. There’s obviously the problem that people might delete the copyright notice if it’s not in the image, but if they’re doing that then they’re obviously ripping your work off on purpose, which is an offence in itself.
* I discovered Khaos via someone posting a scene from Nay’s Story elsewhere, and searching the title.
I love* the way Anwar’s confused asexuality** is suddenly “women’s logic in sex”. Bwa?
Anyway,
I also love*** the way that lady, whom I assume is the domme, addresses Chris. The choice of name, and the way it’s stressed. You can just hear the word vixen said with a positive enjoyment of the euphony. It’s not exactly a word which can roll around the mouth, but it is a word which can linger on the tongue and be said with relish.
I also love her earrings.

I agree- what kind of pet eats stones? Is that a common pet problem? Or a common cat problem (since someone above mentioned a cat)?
Dogs, usually. Cats are more likely to eat string or wool. Or electrical cords if they’re my cat.
Animals occasionally suffer from Pica, where they eat non-food items, just like humans.

To be fair, I found out about this comic today BECAUSE of that website and I’m loving it so far. You’ve got yourself a new fan due to that person putting your content on another website. However, I understand that it’s totally uncool though and the watermarking is a great idea!
Did you find it because I’d commented with that link? The issue is when people postmmy stuff and bother to edit out the nipples but not to credit me. If a fan hadn’t found that you would have never been able to find the comic.
That posting on that site made no sense, and it was a pretty stupid list. I’d be pissed to if my art was not only un-credited but also used in such a distasteful manner.
It didn’t make sense to the fans of this comic because on that site, it was implying that the point of view was JD’s.
Oh. I failed to realize that. Now it makes a little more sense than none. :-/

I do really like that we’re being introduced to these dommes through them complaining about their pets eating things they shouldn’t, it’s a very humanizing moment. No matter who you are, pets do dumb things they shouldn’t.
That test is really an eye opener, I’ll definitely gonna keep it in mind when reading comics!
I really wish Anwar would stop with the melodrama. His way of making himself the victim in every scenario is incredibly irritating. There are far worse things in life than meeting your ex’s polite and pleasant new partner in a kink bar, especially when you went there knowing you had a good chance of running into them. I can think of BILLIONS of ways for this evening to get worse.

i struggle with looking at potentially awkward scene’s so i often have to talk myself in to reading them. i don’t usually regret it but it’s still scary.
I’ve always found the Bechdel test so interesting from the angle of which stories don’t pass it, and why.
Obviously a blunt tool but one that points out a wide discrepancy!
