I think Jack Daniels and coke tastes bizarrely like washing up liquid. If you’re a fan of whiskey (and yes I know Jack Daniels technically isn’t one) and mixers I recommend ginger beer/ale.

As someone who has a lot of Islamic relatives, the idea of Anwar going out drinking and sticking with coke puts a big grin on my face.
I am a serious Jack and Coke girl. Really? You want me to go into a bar and ask for a “ginger and ale”? If I was lucky all they’d do to me is laugh me out of the bar! LOL!

George Dickle is the only Whiskey worth drinking! It has a smooth Caramelized taste and is perfect with Coke. Jack Daniels is over-rated turpintine.
Its the midwest, we expect alot out of our whiskey. I can get drunk AND remove paint at the same time! Now that’s whiskey!
Ginger Ale if definitely the only thing I’d mix with whisky 8apart from a dash of water that is). And I wouldn’t have it with GOOD whisky anyway ;) Why spoil it?
Rum and coke is the way to go.

Fun fact about that drink: sometimes it is referred to as a Cuba Libre. This is because, before the whole communism/embargo/missiles/etc stuff, the drink symbolized the two cultures coming together. Rum is a very Cuban thing and Coke is a very American thing. Of course, most rum in America now is Puerto Rican
I’m pretty sure that a Cuba Libre is a rum and coke with lime. No lime, no Cuba Libre. Could be a US/UK thing, though.

I’ve never even heard of mixing Whiskey with Coke. That sounds terrible. (And those are 2 things I like very much separately).
I’m really curious how this bar scene is going to play out because it’s hard for me to picture the events from this part of FSoG happening with JD in place of Kate/Jose….
I like witty JD ^_^ This scene was terrible in FSoG. I’m all for a not-creepy-as-hell version of it.
I love ginger ale and whiskey, or even rum! A friend and I found out the beautiful mixture this past semester. So delicious.
This plot line has come in just as I JUST missed a 2:1…

WHAAAT? Jack is pretty darned awesome. Just by itself. It’s a Kentucky bourbon. (I watch Modern Marvels on History Channel too much.) But Jameson is far superior, and if you’re going to have whiskey and coke, go for SoCo. NOM.
Oddly, it’s actually not technically a bourbon. I mean, in pretty much every functional way, it’s the same basic style of whiskey. Bourbon is one of those regional things. Specifically, it’s only bourbon if it’s distilled in Bourbon, Kentucky.
Jack Daniels, meanwhile, is made in Tennessee, which is south of Kentucky. Further, it’s produced in a dry county, just to add more confusion to the situation.
If you want to try some bourbons from Bourbon itself, I recommend Knob Creek or Maker’s Mark. Whereas Irish whiskeys and scotch tend to have a biting, almost dry woody flavor to them (in my opinion), good bourbons tend to have an almost caramelized sweetness. They almost immediately make me think of brown sugar. SoCo, meanwhile, has fairly strong licorice overtones.
I’m not really a hard liquor person, though. I love me the beer. If I’m going for hard alcohol, though, you can bet I’ll be aiming at the vodka.
Not true. While bourbon originates from Bourbon county, KY, it doesn’t have to come from there to use the name (although it does need to be produced in the US).
Of course that doesn’t mean that everything that could be labeled bourbon is, and JD falls into that category. It markets itself as a “Tennessee Whiskey”.

I love the perspective on this one especially first panel and Anwar’s face in the second.
But oooh Anwar! Poor boy! I think Alcohol is going to make him feel only worse in the end. Either because he’ll regret drinking afterwards or because he’ll do something he’ll regret while drunk…I just want to hug him now, seriously since this comic started he has one moment of mishap after the other but this makes me only more thrilled for what’s there to come :)
BTW I love JD’s style but right now I’m imagining their closet like one of a cartoon character filled with identical sets of the same outfit :D well I can’t blame them, if I like one piece of clothing I tend to buy several pieces as well^^

When it gets to be close to Christmas and they start selling crap tons of eggnog, I stock up in it and honey whiskey(jack or wild turkey). That’s an amazing combination :3.
